Scientists from the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics (WTCHG) at the University of Oxford have developed a hands-on workshop that will cover DNA sequencing and involve practical activities to carry out a genetic fingerprinting test via PCR based on a scenario linked the to the WTCHG’s research.  There will also be some interactive activities based on bioinformatics and the theory of sequencing, plus an insight into the career paths of each of the researchers delivering the workshop, with plenty of opportunities for questions.

 

The basic timings of the workshop will be:
10:00-12:15 – Morning Session
12:15 – 1pm – Lunch
13:00-15:00 – Afternoon Session

 

We will provide refreshments on arrival, but please bring packed lunches. Please provide any dietary requirements in the booking form. The workshop will take place in Abingdon School’s Yang Science Centre, please come to the Faringdon Road entrance (OX14 1BQ) – directions can be found here. Cars/minibuses can be parked just outside the Science Centre in the coach park 9:00-16:00.
